The Pentagon has awarded Aero Vironment an extension contract to build a second generation "flapping-wing nano-UAV", also known as a "hummingbot". It's a very small drone and the desired specs are very ambitious: mass 10 grams, flying speed 10m/s, 2.5m/s wind speeds, it must be operable from 1000m and must be useable indoors.It's obvious that the ultimate objective is to be able to make a "fly on the wall." Reality is not there yet but Sci-Fi certainly is.
